" Despicable Me 3" Official Trailer on YouTube.Minions are back to make you fall in love with them.

The Despicable Me franchise is a behemoth. Not only did the first two movies in the series absolutely kill it at the box office around the globe, but last year's its first spin-off, Minions, managed to out-pace both of them and make over $1 billion. Thanks to this success, Despicable Me 3 was inevitable, and now the first details have been revealed-- specifically that Steve Carell will be playing dual roles, and that South Park's Trey Parker has been cast as the film's new antagonist, Balthazar Bratt.

It was Universal Pictures' turn to take the stage at Caesar's Palace on Wednesday afternoon at CinemaCon-- the annual convention in Las Vegas held for theater owners-- and when Illumination Entertainment executive Chris Meledandri took the microphone, he delivered some key details about what fans can expect to see in Despicable Me 3. For starters, it was revealed that a key theme in the movie will be sibling rivalry, and this will come about thanks to the sudden emergence of Drew, the long-lost identical twin of Gru. Steve Carell will be voicing both of the brothers in the sequel, and they really do look exactly the same-- with the exceptions being that Drew has a full head of blond hair, and dresses all in white instead of shades of grey.

Not much was revealed about how Drew will fit into the larger plot of Despicable Me 3, but Chris Meledandri did deliver a whole bunch of information about the villainous Balthazar Bratt, who you can see below in a first-look image:

Despicable Me 3

If you're thinking that this guy looks like he's been ripped straight out of the 1980s, then you are absolutely correct. Balthazar Bratt is described as being a former '80s child star who has been pissed off at the world ever since he hit puberty and his show was cancelled. He hates being mocked, and that fact drives him to plot global domination-- because people can't make fun of you if you're in charge of the Earth, right?

Discussing Parker's performance in the movie, Chris Meledandri said that the filmmaker was absolutely elated after completing his voice recording sessions, because he didn't have to stick around and try and fix the problems in the second act.

Fans still have to wait a while for the theatrical arrival of Despicable Me 3, as the film isn't set to be released until June 30, 2017, but be sure to stay tuned in the coming months for more details.

After two increasingly successful entries and a prequel that also broke big, Universal's Despicable Me animated franchise continues to work as smoothly as a dastardly moon-shrinking ray. Accordingly, the summer 2017 arrival of Despicable Me 3 ranks up there with the most anticipated releases of the year. While it's still quite a long while before that film drops, the debut trailer and everything else we know should satiate fans.

Despicable Me 3 Story.

The official synopsis is as follows:.

Gru faces off against Balthazar Bratt, a former child star who grows up to become obsessed with the character he played in the '80s; and gets into some sibling rivalry when he meets his long lost twin brother, Dru.

Despicable Me 3 Cast and Crew.

Despicable Me 3 unsurprisingly features the return of Steve Carell reprising his role as Gru, the villain turned hero(?) of this saga, as well as his new wife Lucy, voiced here by Kristen Wiig. The film, however, most eye-catchingly has persuaded Trey Parker, co-creator and frequent vocal talent of South Park, to play the washed up child prodigy turned supervillain, Balthazar Bratt. Miranda Cosgrove also returns as Margo, Gru and Lucy's oldest adopted daughter. Dana Gaier and Russell Brand are also back. However, Nev Scharrel replaces Elsie Fisher as young Agnes.

Behind the scenes, Despicable Me 3 also has had a small creative shakeup since 2013's Despicable Me 2, with returning co-director Pierre Coffin now sharing directorial duties with Kyle Balda, in lieu of Chris Renaud. The Coffin/Balda directorial lineup headed the helm on the 2015 prequel/spinoff Minions.

Despicable Me 3 Release Date.

The film is set to hit theaters on June 30, 2017.
Gru, Lucy, and the Minions are back, and up against a new villain-- the shoulder-pad sporting, moonwalking Balthazar Bratt.

The "Despicable Me 3" trailer features Bratt (voiced by "South Park" creator Trey Parker) moonwalking on the ocean and up the side of a ship on a pair of skis, while clad in a purple jumpsuit and mullet, as Michael Jackson's "Bad" pays in the background. Meanwhile back at the Anti-Villain League headquarters, they suspect they are witnessing a monster on the loose, until one member recognizes the villain for who he really is: "That's no monster-- that's a man wearing shoulder pads!".

Bratt is a former '80s child star whose show got canceled after he hit puberty. Now he plans on executing a full-fledged world domination.

Gru (Steve Carell) and his wife Lucy (Kristen Wiig) embark on a mission to defeat their newest nemesis, and it appears that Bratt's battle of choice against Gru is a dance-off.

The film is the fourth in the multi-billion-dollar franchise from Illumination Entertainment. Illumination released the "Despicable Me" spinoff, "Minions," in 2015. It grossed $1.2 billion worldwide. "Despicable Me" and "Despicable Me 2" debuted in 2010 and 2013, respectively.

" Despicable Me 3" is directed by Kyle Balda and Pierre Coffin, and will hit theaters on June 30.
